About CETS

CETS is a web-based Christian Theological education organization established in June of 2008. Its purpose is to lead people to Christ through the proclamation of God's Word, raise them up in faith, knowledge and love, and train faithful and wise workers for the building up of a healthy church.

With the incredible development and growth of Chinese churches, the need for leadership has increased as well. Though many training organizations and groups have already risen up, they are not enough to meet the needs. At the same time, as the internet began to grow and develop as a resource, many are beginning to seek more information about the bible and theology there. But that information is unreliable and full of twisted, wrong, or outright heretical ideas that, without careful analysis, can easily lead astray those without proper Theology training. Thus we see an urgent ministry opportunity in developing many qualified leaders for the Chinese church. Considering the special political and economic situation of mainland China, training the few who can afford to come to the United States for study is a mere drop in the bucket. What's more, the language barrier is another reason many Chinese leaders cannot study at American seminaries.

For these reasons, a group of brothers and sisters who had served for many years and had rich experience with web ministries were called one by one, and after much prayer began in 2008 to make plans for an internet-based Seminary. These plans at once received much support from Richard Pratt, president and founder of the Third Millennium Ministries. Third Millennium, whose teachers were all well-known professors from America's top Evangelical seminaries, was willing to provide the Chinese versions of its theological DVD teaching material. At the same time, we were able to make contact with the Miami International Theological Seminary (MINTS), whose Vice President of Academics Neal Hegeman came to Orlando to discuss establishing a learning center that could partner with CETS and offer an official degree from MINTS. When we shared out idea with the Chinese servants of God in Theology and ministry, we also received great encouragement and support as well.

CETS was officially registered with the state of Florida in August of 2008.

CETS firmly believes that the Bible is God's complete, inerrant revelation, the final word in all theology. Furthermore, the goal of education in theology is to develop a thirst for the Holy Word in people and give them the basic equipping to understand and explain the Bible. The ultimate end is reached through a restoration of the truth faith such that our hearts and minds are changed so that we can live out a life and testimony glorifying God, as well as have the desire and will to serve others in humility.

CETS is not a part of any denomination or church. We accept all those who hold to the orthodox faith regardless of denomination, and we hope to work together with the Church and its para-church organizations to defend the faith in truth and unity.

In order to work together with one heart, CETS' board of directors, deacons, and staff are willing to make the following proclamation and vow:

1. All Scripture is self-attesting and, being truth, requires the human mind to subject itself wholeheartedly in all its activities to the authority of Scripture.  It is complete as the Word of God, standing written in the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible, all therein being verbally inspired by Almighty God and therefore without error.

2. Reformed theology as set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms as originally adopted by the Presbyterian Church in the United States is the system of doctrine taught in Scripture; and, therefore, it is to be learned, taught and proclaimed for the edification and government of Christian people, for the propagation of the faith and for the evangelization of the world by the power of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

3. And thus I do solemnly promise and engage not to inculcate, sanction, teach or insinuate anything that appears to me to contradict or contravene, either directly or implicitly, any element of that system of doctrine.

4. NOW THEREFORE, the undersigned in the presence of God, states and signifies that he consents, agrees, and binds himself to all of the foregoing without any reservation whatsoever, and that he further obligates himself immediately to notify in writing the trustees should a change of any kind take place in his belief and feeling not in accord with this statement. Amen.
